I like you, was struggling to make money online. I had launched a lot of campaigns through PPC. In fact my very first PPC campaign with Google cost me $200, in one day. That is not the scary part. I made one, $24 sale. To be honest I was more impressed that I made a sale then what it cost me!

As I had not read or purchased any product that told me the right way to set up PPC campaigns, I just did it. For reference it was unlocking the iPhone. Every time I uploaded a campaign, Google would block it due to headline issues. I am 100% surprised my account was not banned.

But that one sale got me excited. If I can do it once with zero understanding of how to correctly setup PPC campaigns, what would happen if I took the time to learn how to harness my passion.

I decided that if I was willing to spend $200 on a Google Adwords campaign then a $67 course on how to make money blogging was well worth the money. Lucky for me the very first course was Blogging to the Bank.

It showed me how to setup a blog correctly, how to find a niche that was profitable, but I still missed the golden rule, finding niches that you are also passionate about. If you have no interest in ballroom dancing for instance, then it is going to be constant chore to write about it and produce great content that will keep people coming back to your site. I didn’t understand this secret until much later.

I was never into blogs before I purchased Blogging to the Bank. I thought to make money online I had to sell a product or use PPC to sell some other persons product where they make all the money. I forgot the golden key to making money online. I forgot that passion, which by the way is free, is the key to ensuring you make money with a blog.

I set up between six and seven websites all as blogs in an attempt to 100% just make money. The first followed my failed PPC campaign with Apple iPhone. The second was on how to make money with PPC. Man, I didn’t even know how to make money myself!

I thought I did, I could get traffic, but little in sales. The third was on Forex Trading as I had just completed a forex trading course and thought given I was interested in forex I could help others. While I did make some money, $3 a day is not really going to cover the bills here in Sydney.

Then that magical moment hit me and I didn’t even think of it. My wife said to me.

“Instead of wasting your time on all this stuff you know nothing about, what about writing something you know and never shut up about.”

So I did. I had actually been thinking about doing a blog on the Melbourne Cup for ages, but just never thought anyone would be interested. How would I make money out of a horse race, when the likes of Google will not let Adwords be used for gambling type sites and affilaite programs through PPC. The good news was I found plenty of CPA networks that do.

I registered, www.themelbournecupguide.com and started blogging. I didn’t care if zero people read it. It was about me and writing about something I had a real passion for. As a wrote the blog something amazing started to happen.

With everything I learned over the last two years about making money on the internet all kinds of things came out naturally. I produced a lot of unique content, I outsourced design and some articles. I created my own Melbourne Cup Guide for purchase, implemented Adsense automatically, added in CPA campaigns, started to capture leads on people that purchased the ebook and lots more

Sure, at the start I was not making much but when I saw how much traffic I generated I finally realised the potential of blogs. Find a niche that you are interested in AND has high advertising value.

For a website like www.themelbournecupguide.com to generate over 9,000 page views two months after launching was fantastic. Even better I knew I had unlocked the key to making money online.

People came to my website, loved the information, left comments, purchased my ebook and requested more information. The only problem I had was that the Melbourne Cup only ran once a year. What if I had a blog that people were interested in 365 days a year! Then we would really have blog money coming in the door.

That was the key. Finding profitable niches that I was passionate about AND were not one off events. I am hoping that I can show you how to make money out of what you are really passionate about.
